Freshly Milled Whole Wheat Pies in the Drexel Bread Lab

In the Thanksgiving Holiday spirit, Ally, who is the manager of the Drexel Food Lab and Bread Lab, organized a pie making event!

We milled whole wheat flour to use for pie crust, and then we were able to make whatever kind of pie we wanted.  It was so much fun to relax and make pie with my friends.  I am extremely excited for Thanksgiving break.  I will be heading home tonight!

The pie I chose to make yesterday was an ginger apple & pear pie.  The aroma was amazing in the oven! I gave this pie to my sister’s boyfriend as a thank you for driving my friend and I home for Thanksgiving break earlier this evening.   He informed me that the pie was delicious!

Above are pictures of the pie that I made.  I threw together the apple and pear filling, made a quick lattice crust, and popped it in the oven.

I am thankful to Ally for setting aside her own time and help us make delicious pies.  It was a wonderful break in the day filled with classes and work to finish before I went home.
